Singapore's international visitor arrivals surged by 12.4%, month-on-month, and rose 4.2%, year-on-year, to 1.569 mln in Dec - see figure 1. Visitors from Southeast Asia continue to make up the largest group of visitors to Singapore for the month.

For the whole of 2017, the number of international visitor arrivals increased by 6.2% from 2016 to 17.4 mln. Overall, the largest group of visitors to Singapore came from Southeast Asia. By country, Singapore had the most visitors from China, at 3.2 mln.

The hotel occupancy rate dropped to 79.8% in Dec, with hotel room revenue increasing by 3.9%, year-on-year. Total room revenue in Dec was S$310.7 mln.
