In seasonally adjusted terms, the total value of dwelling finance commitments in May increased 0.5% from Apr. Owner-occupied housing commitments rose 0.7% while investment housing commitments fell 0.1% from the preceding month – see table 1.

Year-on-year, the total value of owner-occupied housing commitments increased by 2.1%, while investment housing commitments plunged 13.4% – see figure 1. Looking ahead, the growth of investment housing commitments should remain mild, due to strict regulations on foreign property investors.
