Core machinery orders in Jun jumped 13.9%, month-on-month, and 12.5%, year-on-year – see table 1. The favourable performance is mainly due to a surge in orders for transportation equipment, namely railways and aircraft, which is unlikely to repeat. This, coupled with global trading uncertainties, is expected to cause core machinery orders are expected to remained weak in the coming months – see figure 1.

When Tan Teng Boo started i Capital in 1989, he had a clear vision. i Capital would be a publication that will provide sound investment advice based on sound, objective and thorough research. i Capital would be a publication that will write without fear and favour. There will not be any hidden agenda, and it will always present the truth or alternative views that cannot be found elsewhere.
