Japan – Jun Unemployment Rate

The unemployment rate in Jun fell to 2.8% from 2.9% in May. The number of employed persons gained 80,000 to 66.37 mln persons, while the number of unemployed persons fell by 30,000 to 1.94 mln persons. Meanwhile, the job-offers-to-applicants ratio in Jun fell from 120 in May to 111, while the ratio of new-job-offers-to-new-applicants fell from 188 to 172 – see figure 1. As Japan is hit by a second wave, Japan’s labour market should stay weak.
