Based on advanced estimates, the Singapore economy grew by 6.5% on a year-on-year basis in 3Q 2021 from a low base, moderating from last quarter’s 15.2% expansion (figure 1).

In 3Q 2021, the manufacturing sector grew 7.5%, mainly buoyed by the production of semiconductors. Meanwhile, the construction sector surged 57.9% from a year ago, this is due to a low-base effect.

The services-providing industries increased by 5.5%, as there was a broad-based expansion in both outward and domestically-oriented services sectors (table 1).



On a quarter-on-quarter seasonally adjusted annualised basis, real GDP increased by 0.8% in 3Q 2021, a reversal from the 1.4% contraction seen in the last quarter (table 2).
