In Jul 2026, China's exports rose by 17.8% year-on-year to RMB2.71 trillion, while imports jumped 21.2% to RMB1.95 trillion, yielding a trade surplus of RMB767.1 bln (figure 1). In the first seven months of 2026, exports and imports expanded by 14.0% and 22.0% to RMB17.44 trillion and RMB12.67 trillion respectively, yielding a trade surplus of RMB4.75 trillion.
Export growth was broad-based (table 1). Meanwhile, imports were pushed up by strong imports of semiconductors.
