Quarter-on-quarter, labour productivity in the US non-farm business sector increased by a seasonally adjusted annual rate (SAAR) of 1.4% in 2Q 2026, higher than the 0.8% growth in the previous quarter, as output and hours worked increased by 1.7% and 0.3%, respectively (tables 1 and 2). When compared with a year ago, labour productivity expanded by 2.2% (figure 1).

Meanwhile, unit labour costs increased by 1.3% quarter-on-quarter, and 1.4% year-on-year.
