In just 18 months after coming into office, on 28 May 2024, Malaysia's prime minister Anwar Ibrahim launched the country's most important economic policy in over five decades, the National Semiconductor Strategy (NSS). People say that his government has not implemented the promised reforms and yet within a short time, prime minister Anwar Ibrahim achieved a major economic reform success that the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th prime ministers covering 40 years failed to do so. i Capital is shocked at the impatience and the ignorance of the ordinary Malaysians. They let the 4th prime minister destroyed Malaysia's semiconductor industry and the country for 22 years and when the 10th prime minister launched the NSS within 18 months, they could not even understand and appreciate its strategic significance.
Within a short time, prime minister Anwar Ibrahim achieved a major economic reform success that the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th prime ministers covering 40 years failed to do so.

The haze is back. More and more areas throughout the country have fallen into the “unhealthy” tier, according to the Department of Environment's MyEQMS portal. Although the persistent smog is mainly due to the prolonged dry spells linked to the El Niño phenomenon and wildfires in Sumatra, domestic open burning is also a significant contributor.
Although open burning is prohibited in Malaysia under Section 29A of the Environmental Quality Act 1974, it remains a significant contributor to the country's air pollution. Lax enforcement, coupled with a lack of civic-mindedness, has allowed open burning to persist, with some Malaysians continuing to burn rubbish and other waste with little regard for its impact on public health and the environment. Stronger enforcement, greater public awareness and a stronger sense of civic responsibility are urgently needed to curb this harmful practice.
