Although the Trump reciprocal tariff is on hold for 90 days, the world financial markets continue to suffer from the irresponsible and capricious behaviours of the US 47th president. His threats and subsequent retraction of firing Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell have sent the US stock markets gyrating violently. Most ordinary Malaysians are not aware of the precarious condition they could be facing and are not prepared for them. The Malaysian government and the media should be more proactive in warning the people of the coming socio-economic pain that may hit them from the tariffs imposed by Donald Trump. Being prepared when a crisis strikes can make a lot of difference compared with being hit off guard. The efforts by i Capital and Tan Teng Boo to warn the Malaysian people of the serious potential problems are not enough. The government has to step in.
