ICAPITAL.BIZ BERHAD (ICAP, 5108)

09/05/2025 09:39 pm MYT

Over here at i Capital, we have been advising for quite some time now that the best KLSE-listed stock for investment is icapital.biz Bhd (ICAP, 5108), given prevailing local and global circumstances. This week, Capital goes a step further still and advises that now is an especially ideal time to do so. There are a few good reasons why.

First, with the American-led global trade war casting a dark and scary pall over the global economy, picking individual stocks as a layman can be hazardous and tricky. An investor has to first decide what Trump’s unfriendly tariffs will eventually become, which assumes that one can even figure out what Trump will finally decide on. Only then can an investor figure out the tariffs’ impact on their chosen company and its industry. Instead of engaging in such an arduous and unpredictable stock-picking exercise, it makes better sense to invest in a time-proven fund like ICAP that has exposure to a wide variety of businesses.

Secondly, the stocks recommended in this section of i Capital are either for the medium or long term. For ICAP, however, we break away from the usual and are rating it as a Buy for the short, medium, and long-term bases. ICAP is in a unique position.

For those who are new or not that familiar with ICAP, let us explain some key features of this unique listed company. Set up as a closed-end fund, ICAP was listed on the Main Board of the KLSE on 19 Oct 2005. At present, ICAP remains the only one of its kind in Malaysia, resulting in it being something of a hidden gem still waiting to be discovered. As a closed-end fund, ICAP‘s only business is to invest in other Malaysian listed companies that the fund manager finds attractive. Capital Dynamics Asset Management (CDAM),

Note from Publisher

The uncertainty created by Donald Trump’s trade war has made making business and investment plans almost impossible. When announcing results for the first three months of 2025, most companies have chosen to withdraw forward guidance for their earnings for 2025. As businesses struggle to cope with Trump’s ridiculous tariff policy, investment and consumer spending will be affected and business activity in general will suffer. How does one navigate in such difficult conditions ?

There is no easy answer. However, the more objective and quality research and analysis one gets, the chances of being able to navigate this chaotic period successfully are higher. Capital Dynamics is planning to organise a series of talks nationwide next month to address the current confusing and fluid situation, aiming to share our research and insights, as well as offering our advice on what investors should do. Joining ICAP Fan Club is also beneficial. Meanwhile the 2025 Investor Day of icapital.biz Bhd will be held on 15th and 16th Nov 2025 at the KLCC.
